Hey buddies! Lenny the Lungs here! 🫁

.

Every single day, I help your body do something completely magical — stay alive!

.

Sounds dramatic? It’s true! You might not think about us lungs much, but we’re working quietly in your chest every second. We're the reason you can laugh at a joke, chase your dog around the yard, or blow out birthday candles. 🕯️🎂

.

Let’s dive into my amazing world and meet the real-life heroes who help kids breathe again!

🌬 What Do Lungs Actually Do?

.

Think of us as two super-stretchy, squishy balloons. My main job is to:

  1. Bring fresh oxygen (the air your body needs for energy) into your body when you breathe in.

  2. Push out a waste gas called carbon dioxide when you breathe out.

.

I help you do this around 20,000 times a day — even when you're asleep! That’s more breaths than the number of jellybeans in a giant lolly jar. 🍬

.

.

.

🛤 Welcome to the Lung Highways!

.

Inside me are tiny air tubes called bronchi and bronchioles — they branch out like a tree. If you stretched all those tubes out, they’d be about 2,400km long. That’s like a road trip from Brisbane to Adelaide!

🫁 When Lungs Need a Helping Hand

.

Sometimes, a person’s lungs don’t work properly because of a disease or an injury. When medicine can’t help anymore, the next step might be a lung transplant — where a healthy lung from a donor replaces a sick one.

.

For a kid who’s struggling to breathe, a new lung is like getting a second chance to play, sing, dance and just be a kid again.

💗 How Donors Become Real-Life Heroes

.

Organ donors are people (and families) who make the brave and kind choice to help others. One donor can save up to 7 lives — and that includes kids who need lungs just like me. It’s one of the most heroic things a person can do.

🌟 Let’s Celebrate Our Lungs

.

Your lungs are superheroes inside your body. They never take a break — and they help you experience every joyful moment.

.

Let’s thank them, take deep breaths, and share stories of hope so more families can say YES to donation.
